Lung Function Tests
Lung function tests are an accurate and efficient way of monitoring your employee’s respiratory health. They can help detect asthma in its very early stages so steps can be taken to reverse the disease or minimise its impact.
It is important you are compliant with COSHH.
If there are any substances which are identified as an occupational asthma agent in your workplace, it is vital to carry out appropriate respiratory health surveillance.
Phoenix Occupational Health offers an on-site spirometry testing service, allowing you to monitor the health of your workforce and comply with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002.
Protect your business from future liability.
These lung function tests can be carried out at your convenience. We will come to your site and each test will only take 20 minutes per employee so will cause minimal disruption to your day-to-day operations.
There are a number of substances which can cause occupational lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or occupational asthma and will normally trigger a health surveillance requirement.
These substances include:
- Isocyanates
- Solder Flux
- Epoxy Resin
- Curing Agents
- Welding Fumes
- Dust and other Airborne Particulates (including Wood Dust)
- Paints & Adhesives
- Fibreglass
- Glutaraledehyde
- Latex
- Lung Disease / COPD
- Asbestos
- Silica Dust / Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS)
- Ceramic Fibre
For a full list, please consult COSHH regulations.
When you take on new staff, a lung function test should be carried out as soon as they accept the offer of employment. This will allow us to identify any pre-existing problems so we can recommend steps to avoid their condition getting any worse and protect you from future liability.
The frequency of ongoing assessments will vary depending on the substances that your employees are exposed to and the level of exposure.
